VMH Charts was created by sparticle
I have given up on getting this to work on Ubuntu so gone back to Raspian.

I purchased the UK Chart pack form Visit My Harbour for use with qtVLM. I have copied the chart sto the /home/pi/.qtVlm/mbtiles/qtUK-NC-2019 folder it contains 2 files qtUK-NC-2019.hdx and qtUK-NC-2019.vmh

I have added this directory into the Folders list in the Chart->Gshhs and Visit My Harbour Charts tab. I have activated the files and the message says VMH Chart set was activated successfully.

But I see no charts on the screen. I have tried pressing the M button to activate these charts but nothing shows up on screen. I expected some kind of scanning and loading of the charts when they were activated. I can display my out of date CM93 charts just fine by toggling the C button.

What am I missing? I followed the steps and all seemed fine including the activation message.

So right now I cannot use the charts I specifically purchased to test your product.

Can you advise please.

Cheers

Hi Spart,
Hard to say, according to what you did it should work. If you put the folder qtUK-NC-2019 into qtVlm mbtiles folder then you don't even need to add it to the list of folders since it takes all subfolders also (and it's maybe not so good to have it twice, if mbtiles folder is also checked)..
Can you go to the view menu->mbtiles catalog and check that the .vmh files are there, and that you can display a preview?
Also obviously make sure the view is where the charts are and that you are zoomed in enough.
Regards,
Philippe

It says unreadable mbtiles database in red at the bottom in teh description field.
The qtUK-NC-2019 shows up in the left hand side.
Followed the instructions to the letter.

Is there any kind of log I can look at?

Not easy in that case, a log will not tell us anything.
Unreadable mbtiles means VMH activation failed, or that you changed something in the mean time on your device (not the same device where you generated the key, mainly, or you added/removed some hw on it, etc). For instance you cannot just activate VMH charts on a device and move the sd card on another RPI and hope that will work.
Did you change anything on the device since the key activation?
That being said we'll find out no worry. I need to test again tomorrow and to contact also VMH to get some keys to test with..
Cheers,
Philippe.

No I simply installed qtVlm for the first time in a fresh installation of raspbian and it ran perfectly. Then I purchased the charts and followed the VMH instructions and the instructions on the documentation. I got the message that the VMH Chart set was activated successfully as I described in my first post.

But the charts do not show up. The files are there permissions and ownership all look fine and they can be activated using the process documented. There is nothing changed from installation, I have not even updated the pi, it is a vanilla system. I am assuming if activation fails there would be a message saying so and not one telling me that activation was successful!

As I said it displays my old CM93 charts perfectly and the online charts when enabled.

Cheers
