Bonjour,
Je relance ce post, car j'ai lu qu'une application que je ne connaissais pas, AVNav, peut utiliser les cartes O-Chart achetées pour OpenCPN.
www.wellenvogel.net/software/avnav/docs/...hartsng.html?lang=en
J'ai peut-être mal compris, mais si tel est le cas, ce serait bien de pouvoir faire de même avec QTVLM. Cela me permettrait enfin d'avoir des fonds de carte vectoriels dans QTVLM pour les régions où je navigue.
Hello,
I am reviving this post because I read that an application I was not familiar with, AVNav, can use O-Chart maps purchased for OpenCPN.
www.wellenvogel.net/software/avnav/docs/...hartsng.html?lang=en
I may have misunderstood, but if that is the case, it would be great to be able to do the same with QTVLM. This would finally allow me to have vector charts in QTVLM for the regions where I sail.

AVnav converts the o-charts into raster maps.

Hi!
Yes, Avnav uses the charts from OpenCPN.
I actually do use AvNav since it is a very comprehensive HTML5-based UI and I can access it from my tablet and the smartphone through my boat's Wifi network.
Best regards,
Bernhard

I saw Maltai answer in which he wrote that QTVM will never be able to read O-Charts.
Few month ago O-Charts guy told me they were exclusively working with OpenCPN, it seem that since they changed their mind.
It should be interesting to understand, why something that become possible for Avnav won’t be possible for QTVLM, knowing that QTVLM is a jewel for routing developed by magician.
In QTVLM I mainly miss maps for Sicilia, Greece, Tunisia, Malta, …

That's for sure possible.
So basically it works like this:
OpenCPN comes with a closed source map server called oexserverd. This server checks the license and all that stuff and then serves the maps.
AvNav starts this very same server and accesses the maps through it.
So there's some protocol involved on how to talk to the oexserverd.
The AvNav developer is very helpful.
Best regards,
Bernhard
