NMEA Data Sources for QTVLM was created by Campion
Hi All,
I'm looking for a device I can plug into my NMEA backbone, which will act as a data server to send out data I can pickup on QTVLM on my Windows laptop. Does anyone have a recommendation, or advice on how they get compatible NMEA data sent wirelessly to their laptop based QTVLM installation
I have all B&G sensor equipment onboard, and a B&G Vulcan plotter. I have already bought an Antisense W2K NMEA data logger to perform this function, but none of the data formats it uses seem compatible with QTVLM
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Best
Ray

Hi Ray,
You need something that will convert NMEA 2000 to NMEA 0183, for instance an Actisense NGW1 (for USB connection) or W2K1 (for WIFI)

Is it still the case as of may 2024 that qtvlm does not support NMEA 2000? I'm not able to find these details in the documentation.

Yes, that is still the case. You need a converter.

Thanks a lot. Is there a list of supported or recommended devices to convert?
For example, Actisense Gateway NGW-1, Actisense NGX-1, NMEA-0183 GATEWAY YDNG-03, NMEA-2000 USB GATEWAY YDNU-02, IKONVERT – NMEA 2000 TO USB CONVERTER, etc.

What I can say is that many people are using Actisense converters (one is for WIFI, the other for a serial connection).
