Moving chart with arrow keys ends ruler tool

Hi,

I would like to do a quick measure of distance across multiple points using the ruler tool. This works great if you double click the first point. However when I want to move the chart with the arrow keys, like you would when creating a pathway, the ruler tool stops. So, you cannot use the ruler tool outside the existing view of the chart. 
Is it possible to give the ruler tool the same behavior as the pathway tool regarding to moving the map around?

BTW, I'm using the Linux 5.12-8-p4 version.
